Caissa Osaka Chess Club is expanding - and we’re building a powerful pool of freelance instructors who want to grow with us.
We are not just running chess classes.
We are building a modern chess culture in Kansai.

Who We Are
Caissa Osaka Chess Club is a young and ambitious chess academy based in Osaka, active in Osaka and Kobe. We work with schools, families, and tournament players to promote structured, high-quality chess education.

Who We’re Looking For
We are assembling a trainer pool of motivated chess enthusiasts who:
Have a solid understanding of chess (club level or above, Master Titled Players)
FIDE licensed trainers (those who have such a qualification or aim to obtain it)
Can teach and communicate clearly
Speak Japanese and/or English (Both ideal - one is acceptable depending on situation)
Most importantly:
✔ You must currently reside in Japan
✔ You must hold a residence status that allows freelance work
(We cannot sponsor visas for this position.)
What You’ll Do
Depending on your availability and profile:
Chess Instruction
Teaching children and/or adults
Structured lessons & practical training
Game analysis & tournament preparation
Compensation: 4,400 JPY per hour (tax included)
Tournament & Event Support
Assisting during tournaments
Arbiter duties (if qualified)
Player management & coordination
Compensation:10,000 JPY per event day. Up to 15,000 JPY for experienced arbiters
Administrative Support (Occasional)
Data input
Communication
Light coordination tasks
Compensation: 2,200 JPY per hour (3–5 hour blocks when needed)
Travel Expenses
Covered up to 1,000 JPY per day (with receipt).
We mainly operate in Osaka and Kobe and expect use of public transportation.

Have at least one free afternoon per week (or a whole day even better!)

Are studying or working part-time

Wish to transition gradually into professional chess education
All assignments are discussed in advance and require your approval.
